The Gasparilla Parade for Chidren has been a part of Tampa's tradition since 1947. The Parade is a celebration of Jose Gasper known by his nickname Gasparilla. Gasparilla is claimed to have raided the West Coast of Florida during the late 18th and early 19th century.
The Parade is put on by Tampa's Recreation Department and takes place along Bayshore Boulevard on January 18, 2014. This parade will begin at Bay to Bay Blvd and Bayshore Blvd, The Gasparilla Parade is set to broadcast live on FOX 13.
In past years the Children's Gasparilla Parade included over 100 units, including bands, dance units, and school organizations.
